The software works on macOS, Windows or Linux and will download other required resources from the Internet. Personally I normally just install and setup Hackintosh systems and use virtual environments like Vmware, Qemu and Virtualbox to install other version of macOS that might not use regularly. The other obvious benefit is that the macOS installer can be setup on a flash drive or a ISO can be created to burned to a DVD or the ISO can be using to install macOS in a virtual environment.
