Super Easy to Install: You need not be a computer expert to install a new operating system. Linux Ubuntu is designed to be easy to install and to try out. Simply follow these easy instructions: 1. Set your computer to boot from the DVD. This is accomplished by going into the bios settings on startup. When your machine boots up, before it launches windows, get into your bios by repeatedly tapping the DEL key, or ESC key, or one of the FN keys (this varies by manufacturer, there is usually a brief display on bootup that tells you which key to hit to entire the bios). 2. Once in your bios, simply navigate to a screen that allows you to set the order of which devices your computer boots from first. Set it to boot from the DVD first. 3. Install the Linux DVD, save your bios settings, and reboot. We have set up an installation guide page to show you step by step on how to set the BIOS to boot from the CD and how to install Linux. The address is printed on the label of disk you receive. The Linux start screen will start and lead you through the start up procedure. Its that simple. Catalog Number and disclaimer This disk contains software that is Open Source, that is in full compliance with the GPL License agreement. We are authorized to distribute this disk and its contents. This operating system can be freely installed on as many systems as you wish as long as the (GNU) General Public License is followed and agreed upon. This is not a boot limited, OEM, shareware, bootleg or trial version, There is no activation or CD key required to install this software. This DVD-ROM does not come in a retail box as Linux is an Open Source OS. Installation is as simple as inserting the DVD and rebooting your computer as discussed in this listing. A copy of the license for this software is included with the software package. Software does not come in a retail box. Software is shipped with disk only in a paper sleeve and a mailer. All manuals and documentation is loaded on the disk. Frequently Asked Questions and TERMS (PLEASE READ): Please scroll up for a second and look at my price. Please understand the requirements of your computer PRIOR to bidding. It is your responsibility to know whether you need a 64 bit or 32 bit operating system. We get emails from time to time from customers who bought a 32 and need a 64 or who bought a 64 and need a 32 and want to exchange them. We are not WalMart. It is not our fault if you buy the wrong item, we send to you what you bought, the postage was already spent, we can’t resell the DVD we sent to you, so were are not going to take a loss just because you couldn’t figure out what you needed. So if you buy the wrong item, then you need to accept responsibility, and buy the one you need and please don’t ask us to exchange it for you if you buy the wrong one! Again, if you want a full service return policy, go buy a copy of Windows at Best Buy. Please do not ask me what the difference is between 32 and 64 either, or send me the specs to your computer and then ask me to explain to you what system you need for your computer, or whether it will work better with this CPU or that CPU, or what not, I do not respond to those types of questions. I don’t have the time to research your question and make a recommendation for your computer system. Please be considerate and understanding here, that if I sent you what you ordered, you can’t just exchange if because you ordered the wrong thing. We are not a full service computer support company. I distribute Linux DVD’s only, and only make a couple of bucks a sale, so there is no way I can afford to provide support for the product. If you are going to be unreasonable about that, then I respectfully ask that you shop elsewhere. 2. If you get a message when you install this DVD, something like „this kernel requires an x86-64 CPU”, that means you bought the 64 bit version and you have a 32 bit machine. If you bought a 64 bit and your system is a 32 bit, then you are the one that screwed up! So, accept responsibility and either come back and buy a 64 bit from me, or go buy it from someone else, but don’t ask me if you can send your disk back to me and exchange it. What am I supposed to do with the disk after you’ve already used it once and it has gone through the mail? Would you be happy if I sent you a used disk that someone else has sent back to me? 3. I do not know whether your specific game or software will run on Linux. Some software runs on Linux, some doesn’t. There is usually a similar type of software available for Linux that there is for windows. There is no way for me to know every single piece of software out there, so I can’t answer those types of questions. Same goes for specific pieces of hardware/drivers and so forth. I can not answer compatibility questions for obvious reasons. Some pieces of hardware on your system may not have the right drivers easily available for Linux. You will have to dig and search for them. I don’t have them, and I can’t look for them. That’s part of the process of installing Linux. It is more of a do-it-yourself type of system as opposed to a full service package of Windows 7 that will run you 600 bucks. 4. Linux is a standalone operating system that can be installed on a bare, clean drive. No previous operating system is required. It can wipe clean an old hard drive, regardless of what was one it, and install on it as a clean drive. 5. System requirements are very mild for Linux. Linux is not a resource hog like Windows. The minimum recommended requirements are a 700 Mhz processor, 384 MB RAM, 8 GB of Disk space, Graphics card capable of 1024×768 resolution. Most modern systems less then a few years old will have no issues running Linux. Computers that are over 5 years old may have issues running newer versions of Linux. If you are unsure whether or not your machine can run Linux, please confirm this with your hardware manufacturer prior to purchasing. We cannot research whether your make or model is compatible. Please do not email us with your model and ask if it will work, we will refer you back to your manufacturer. 6. This version of Linux cannot be installed on a MAC and run on some windows simulator or partition. Mac’s are Mac’s, PC’s are PC’s. This version of Linux was designed to run on a PC only. Those trying to tweak something to get this to run on a MAC will be greatly disappointed. So, with that in mind, my official position as that this does not run on a MAC and I’m not going to accept questions or complaints if you still buy it, try to run it on a MAC, and then complain to me about it when it does not work. Linux is only designed to run on a PC based computer, no macs, no hand held devices, no specialty systems. It will install on a desktop PC or a laptop PC, period, that’s it! I don’t care what MAC operating system you have, or whether you have some PC simulator software on your MAC, or whatever workaround you think you got, my position is that this does not run on MACS. 7. I do not provide tech support after the sale. I will not help you with the setup. If you have problems with the setup, look it up online, I don’t have the time to walk people through problems for a 5 dollar item. I’m disclosing that up front right here, before you buy, so there are no expectations. Please understand the requirements of your computer PRIOR to bidding. It is your responsibility to know whether you need a 64 bit or 32 bit operating system. We get emails from time to time from customers who bought a 32 and need a 64 or who bought a 64 and need a 32 and want to exchange them. We are not WalMart. It is not our fault if you buy the wrong item, we send to you what you bought, the postage was already spent, we can’t resell the DVD we sent to you, so were are not going to take a loss just because you couldn’t figure out what you needed. So if you buy the wrong item, then you need to accept responsibility, and buy the one you need and please don’t ask us to exchange it for you if you buy the wrong one! Again, if you want a full service return policy, go buy a copy of Windows at Best Buy. Please do not ask me what the difference is between 32 and 64 either, or send me the specs to your computer and then ask me to explain to you what system you need for your computer, or whether it will work better with this CPU or that CPU, or what not, I do not respond to those types of questions. I don’t have the time to research your question and make a recommendation for your computer system. Please be considerate and understanding here, that if I sent you what you ordered, you can’t just exchange if because you ordered the wrong thing. We are not a full service computer support company. I distribute Linux DVD’s only, and only make a couple of bucks a sale, so there is no way I can afford to provide support for the product. If you are going to be unreasonable about that, then I respectfully ask that you shop elsewhere. 2. If you get a message when you install this DVD, something like „this kernel requires an x86-64 CPU”, that means you bought the 64 bit version and you have a 32 bit machine. If you bought a 64 bit and your system is a 32 bit, then you are the one that screwed up! So, accept responsibility and either come back and buy a 64 bit from me, or go buy it from someone else, but don’t ask me if you can send your disk back to me and exchange it. What am I supposed to do with the disk after you’ve already used it once and it has gone through the mail? Would you be happy if I sent you a used disk that someone else has sent back to me? 3. I do not know whether your specific game or software will run on Linux. Some software runs on Linux, some doesn’t. There is usually a similar type of software available for Linux that there is for windows. There is no way for me to know every single piece of software out there, so I can’t answer those types of questions. Same goes for specific pieces of hardware/drivers and so forth. I can not answer compatibility questions for obvious reasons. Some pieces of hardware on your system may not have the right drivers easily available for Linux. You will have to dig and search for them. I don’t have them, and I can’t look for them. That’s part of the process of installing Linux. It is more of a do-it-yourself type of system as opposed to a full service package of Windows 7 that will run you 600 bucks. 4. Linux is a standalone operating system that can be installed on a bare, clean drive. No previous operating system is required. It can wipe clean an old hard drive, regardless of what was one it, and install on it as a clean drive. 5. System requirements are very mild for Linux. Linux is not a resource hog like Windows. The minimum recommended requirements are a 700 Mhz processor, 384 MB RAM, 8 GB of Disk space, Graphics card capable of 1024×768 resolution. Most modern systems less then a few years old will have no issues running Linux. Computers that are over 5 years old may have issues running newer versions of Linux. If you are unsure whether or not your machine can run Linux, please confirm this with your hardware manufacturer prior to purchasing. We cannot research whether your make or model is compatible. Please do not email us with your model and ask if it will work, we will refer you back to your manufacturer. 6. This version of Linux cannot be installed on a MAC and run on some windows simulator or partition. Mac’s are Mac’s, PC’s are PC’s. This version of Linux was designed to run on a PC only. Those trying to tweak something to get this to run on a MAC will be greatly disappointed. So, with that in mind, my official position as that this does not run on a MAC and I’m not going to accept questions or complaints if you still buy it, try to run it on a MAC, and then complain to me about it when it does not work. Linux is only designed to run on a PC based computer, no macs, no hand held devices, no specialty systems. It will install on a desktop PC or a laptop PC, period, that’s it! I don’t care what MAC operating system you have, or whether you have some PC simulator software on your MAC, or whatever workaround you think you got, my position is that this does not run on MACS. 7. I do not provide tech support after the sale. I will not help you with the setup. If you have problems with the setup, look it up online, I don’t have the time to walk people through problems for a 5 dollar item. I’m disclosing that up front right here, before you buy, so there are no expectations.
